Today, I finished working on the Incandescence Lights 2018 tutorial for Maya. This tutorial, just like the other light tutorials, wasn’t the hardest in the world, but still helped me learn about how to use these lights. The issue that I had last time luckily didn’t pop up again, so that was good. I like how this looks, the only problem I have with it is that I didn’t really get the most purple in it, but that’s fine.
Today, I began working on the short 2018 video for Lights in Maya. So far, it looks pretty good, but it’s had some functionality issues. Not only when watching the tutorial, but when working on the assignment myself, the lights were super buggy and unfunctional. Luckily, I was able to get it into a good spot for the time being to take a picture, so that’s good.
Today, I worked on the Neon Light 2019 tutorial using Maya. This was another simple 1/2 day assignment that didn’t take too long to complete, but was more complicated than the other one. All I did for this tutorial was create a glowing sign on a wall! The only issues I had were fireflies appearing, but luckily that’s all.
Today, I worked on the Mesh Light 2017 tutorial using Maya. This was a simple 1/2 day assignment that didn’t take too long to complete, but I was still happy with the results. All I did for this tutorial, was create a sign of text, put it on the ground, and make it glow! The only issue I had was that the letter “g” messed up and couldn’t be fixed no matter what I did, so that kinda sucked.
Today, I started working on animating the Mini Man in Maya. So far, it hasn’t come out too bad, but due to me having to actually move him forward, and him having a stiff leg for no reason, the animation looks a little.. off. I’ll also have to do some weight painting soon so his face doesn’t look like a chipmunk’s face, but that shouldn’t really be too much of a problem.
Today, I was able to finish UV Mapping the entire rest of my Hammer Boy in Maya. This assignment wasn’t the hardest, but also wasn’t the easiest either, so it was a fun experience learning about how to UV Map many unique objects. I don’t think what I did was too bad, but I definitely could have done better either UV Mapping the pants or hair. It didn’t feel too bad doing this assignment, as UV Mapping is fun for me, so I luckily didn’t have very many issues. The one thing I would have changed in the entirety of the assignment would have been UV Mapping the hair, since it’s a long and tedious only process.
Today, I was able to get a lot done with UV Mapping the Hammer Boy in Maya! What I was able to get done, was making and finishing the gloves and boots! Luckily, doing these two weren’t the hardest, but still quite a moderate challenge! The hardest thing about them was the gloves in general, as certain things were messing up due to what model we have.
Today, I started working on UV Mapping the Hammer Boy in Maya. What I have been able get done so far is actually quite a lot; I have been able to completely UV Map the skin! While that is the only thing I have done so far, it was also the hardest part of the whole thing, so being able to get it done made me really happy!
Today, I was able to finish UV Mapping the Goggles and Hammer. This assignment, while not too long, was still pretty fun! UV Mapping and texturing is something I enjoy doing, so this assignment was a fun one for me. I’m happy with how they came out, even though I wish I would’ve added a bit more detail. The only main problem I had throughout the entire thing were the goggles, since the ones we were given were different than from the ones in the video. The only thing I would’ve changed would have been the texture for the Hammer, since I made it way too plain.
Today, I “finished” rigging my Mini Man. Over the past few days, I’ve been slowly rigging him over time in order to finally finish him, but not without a few problems. The main problem I had was certain things moving incorrectly or not moving at all once I worked and messed around the Mini Man, without me being able to fix it due to being too far into the project from where the mistake occurred. Even with the many mistakes and semi-rushed work at the end, I’m still proud with how it turned out! Even though it didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted it to be, it still looked and functioned nice in the end. I felt mostly good throughout this assignment, however these last few days have been a bit aggravating because I’ve messed up multiple times and lost progress. The only thing I would have changed in this assignment would have been redoing the feet, as I feel like I kept messing it up each time I did it.
