SkillsUSA Pitch Presentation

This is the Google Slides Pitch Presentation we have for our SkillsUSA assignment. In this pitch, we include the concept sketches we have made, as well as the color pallet and more information about what we are doing. We made the slides as if we were going to give a presentation over it, so information is a bit small since we will fill in the rest ourselves.

Concept Sheet and Asset List for Skills Project

Recently, we began final project for SkillsUSA, where we make either an Animation, Still Image, or a few other options. Me and my friend DJ went for the still image and decided on making this cavern area with a mysterious glowing object behind the corner. We plan to have a lot of detail in this scene considering it will be in this big enclosed area with a lot of clacks an dholes, and we’ll also have tons of lighting around the place, giving it great illumination.

Happy Halloween Partner Project Asset List and Storyboard

This is the Asset List and Storyboard for Me Seth’s Happy Halloween 2022 Project. We put both the things on the same spreadsheet for easy organization and sharing. Our original plan from the storyboard was supposed to have a longer duration then what we actually got, but all of our assets from the Asset List did make it into the final product.

Happy Halloween Partner Project

Today, Seth and I finished our Happy Halloween Partner Project using Maya 2023. This was a fun little project, and I enjoyed making models for it, that had to have been my favorite part. What’s even better is that our time to work on this was a little bit better than it usually is. It was still super strict to the point of having to rush almost everything, but it wasn’t as stressful as it usually was. Maybe I feel that way because I enjoyed modeling a bench, I have no idea. Unfortunately, Seth was absent a few of the days, including today, but he did do a little of progress on the assignment at home and even did almost all of the animation.

Jinx’s Chomper Grenade: Animating

Today, I finished animating Jinx’s Chomper Grenade in Maya 2023. Unfortunately, due to our lack of time, I was not able to render it, but since we were allowed a pass and could Playblast instead, that’s what I did. Overall the model we created wasn’t bad, it was just the videos that we had to follow that were. What I think I liked the most about the assignment is just the design of Jinx’s Grenade itself, so being able to model it was pretty cool. I wouldn’t say I’d want to do this same thing again in the future, but with some changes on how we do things and our time frame to do them, then I’ll be up for another round.

Jinx’s Chomper Grenade: UV Mapping 2

Today, I completed UV Mapping Jinx’s Grenade in Maya 2023. I had to do the entire rest of this completely by myself without the tutorial. The tutorial was so far off from what we were doing, and things were made out so complicated, it was better just to work without it. Regarding the UV Mapping I made, I’m super proud of it! There was an issue near the end that messed me up a lot, and had no solution online, so I just worked it out. I don’t think these blog posts are read, this is a test, if you see this, please tell me in class next time you see me. I think my favorite thing I UV Mapped was the jaws, since they were complicated, but still showed me something new. Despite our very limited time, I’m still happy with how this is coming out.

Jinx’s Chomper Grenade: UV Mapping 1

Today, I completed the first video for the UV Mapping on Jinx’s Grenade. I enjoyed this tutorial a bit more than others since it give me an opportunity to go out and do my own work. For the majority of the tutorial, I was unable to follow along due to how different my model looked from hers, but I had fun figuring it out and completing my own UV Map, although it was frustrating at some points. I’m at a good, normal pace right now and the rest of the UV Map doesn’t seem as hard as what we just did, but I could easily be wrong.

Jinx’s Chomper Grenade: Modeling Pt. 2

Today, I finished modelling Jinx’s Chomper Grenade in Maya 2023. I did enjoy making this grenade, however my favorite parts is when I went out on my own without the video to do some touch ups myself. There were a few problems in the tutorial we were using, like when the video ended, there were still many parts of the model missing that she did not model in herself. It took me a bit longer to finish this model then I was supposed to, which hurts even more with our crunched time, but I still think it was worth it sine I was actually able to finish the model instead of making an one like what was show in the video (for some context, the mouth was not ever attached to the grenade itself, so I had to go out of my way to do that since I did not want it to look bad).

Jinx’s Chomper Grenade: Modeling Pt. 1

Today, we worked on modelling Jinx’s Chomper Grenade in Maya 2023. So far, it’s coming along pretty good, however we have the same problem as last time with the very short time limit, so things will either have to be rushed in at low quality, or late. Despite the lower grade, I’m still choosing to submit late since I just can’t go without quality in what I am working on. So far though, the model is coming along pretty good. There were a few times I strayed from the video since some stuff she was doing either looked a bit off from the original model or just touches I wanted to add (for example the teeth on her model was not sharp, but I made mine sharp).
