Today, we started working on our Logo project. This project is actually meant for someone, as we are making a logo for their “company” What we did today was work on a storyboard and creating ideas. So far, we have two, and both look good. The only problem we are currently having are the colors, as we don’t know exactly what to do with them.
Updating the SkillsUSA Project: 2
This is the continuation of the edits I did while updating my SkillsUSA project in Maya. The thing that’s being shown here is the detail I have added to the stems. Details to the stems was something that was planned when the project was first started, but I didn’t have time to add it due to our time limit. Now, I was able to add a proper UV Map to all the mushroom stems, giving them depth and adding more realism to the scene.
Updating the SkillsUSA Project: 1
This is the first change I made to my mushrooms when updating my SkillsUSA project in Maya 2020. What I did is that I completely remade the texture and UV Map for the Spotted Mushroom. Before, the mushroom looked terrible, blocky, and rushed, since I was starting to run out of time. Since I have more time however, I was able to give it proper texturing and a bump map, making it look a lot more professional and realistic.
nCloth Tutorials 4
This is the video I made on the second flag tutorial we made using nCloth. Just like the previous tutorial, I really liked doing this one. It took some trial and error, since I needed to keep the flag in the air, while also making it swap from left to right. Other or less, it came out really good, and still moves in a realistic motion!
nCloth Tutorials 3
This is the video I made on the first moving flag using nCloth. I really like how this turned out, the waving is super realistic and amazingly beautiful! I didn’t end up having any problems with it, and I was even able to put a little smiley face on it and still was able to finish everything on time!
nHair Tutorials: 3

This is the second of the two nHair tutorials I finished today in Maya. In this video, I had to put realistic fur on an object in Maya. The only main problem I had was being able to follow the tutorial, since it was something I was doing for the first time, and he used a saved present that we don’t have access to.
nHair Tutorials: FINAL

Today, I was able to finish my nhair tutorials for Maya 2020. Near the end of the videos, they started to be more about xgen then nhair, so that was a little unfortunate, but I was still able to learn some new things from it, like how there was a content browser I never knew about! My favorite video from these tutorials was the Shaggy Rug. The Shaggy Rug tutorial showed me a lot of cool things with nhair that I never knew about before. That video is also the one I learned the most from and will probably make things 10x easier when it comes to making fur, carpet, or grass! The thing I struggled with the most was probably the last video, just because of how hard it was to hear, and how it was pretty quick and also low quality.
nHair Tutorials: 2

Today, I was able to finish two more nhair tutorials in Maya 2020. This time, I had little to no issues, and it all went pretty smoothly, other than when one interface box wouldn’t pop up and I had to reset Maya. I really like these tutorials so far, as it ends up looking super realistic without too much pain of trying to make it, so the result always looks at least somewhat good! The hardest thing for me is trying to get the hair to move in the directions I want them to, as sometimes that’s a bit of a struggle.
nHair Tutorials: 1

Today, we started working on our nHair tutorials in Maya. So far, I’ve completed the first tutorial with the two hair styles, now I’m going for the shaggy rug. I haven’t had too many issues, other than Maya crashing a lot. Due to xgen’s functionality being limited in Maya 2020, some features are harder to use or nonfunctional currently.
Don’t Press The Red Button: FINAL
Today, we were able to finish and upload our final animation for our Don’t Press the Red Button group assignment in Maya! Finally, the last few frames we needed uploaded, so we were able to put it all into Adobe After Effects. I was able to modify the sample sounds we were given, so I changed up a few and put them in to add ambient sounds. My favorite part about this assignment was probably the after effects, as I found it pretty fun to compile everything and put in some sounds to make the animation come to life. Madison unfortunately still has not come back, so we’ve been stuck with two people for a bit. Luckily, the animation turned out fine, other than the obvious weird mistakes here and there.
